Are you familiar with housing codes and will you be able to tell me if he renovations done by the seller are code compliant?

A home inspection is not a code review. If there was a renovation done it would have needed a permit from the local municipality. The municipality would determine if construction was up to code or not. Any alteration to the electrical, plumbing, heating, structural components will require a permit.
